We will be talking about exercise and being active.
Does anyone know why it is important to exercise?
- Increase energy
- Prevents diseases such as arteriosclerosis, diabetes and obesity
- Better sleep
- Focus in school – more exercise better grades
- Improves mood (endorphins)
- Better blood flow (lower blood pressure and heart rate)
- Burns fats to control weight
- Improves mood
- Can be fun
Do you know how many hours of exercise a teenage girl should receive a day?
You need at least an hour a day. But, it doesn’t necessarily need to be going to the gym or playing a sport. It can be as simple as running up the stairs or skipping them or speed walking.
Although more intense workouts are suggested and here are examples of how to get active
- Join a sports team (we know that precious blood has a lot)
- Do push-ups, sit-ups, lunges and plank once you wake up
- Go for a run around the school
- Jumping jacks
- It is also important to stretch before and after a workout to get your blood flowing and warmed up so muscles don’t tear

- Stretch to cool down
