We will be talking about exercise and being active.

Does anyone know why it is important to exercise?

  • Increase energy
  • Prevents diseases such as arteriosclerosis, diabetes and obesity
  • Better sleep
  • Focus in school – more exercise better grades
  • Improves mood (endorphins)
  • Better blood flow (lower blood pressure and heart rate)
  • Burns fats to control weight
  • Improves mood
  • Can be fun

Do you know how many hours of exercise a teenage girl should receive a day?

You need at least an hour a day. But, it doesn’t necessarily need to be going to the gym or playing a sport. It can be as simple as running up the stairs or skipping them or speed walking.

Although more intense workouts are suggested and here are examples of how to get active

  • Join a sports team (we know that precious blood has a lot)
  • Do push-ups, sit-ups, lunges and plank once you wake up
  • Go for a run around the school
  • Jumping jacks
  • It is also important to stretch before and after a workout to get your blood flowing and warmed up so muscles don’t tear

  • Push-ups (10)
  • Sit-ups (30)
  • Plank for 30s
  • Stretch to cool down
